My name is Laura Bianchi, I was born in February 1982 in Crema (Cremona, Italy). I am a visual artist.
I have always loved drawing because it allows me to work spontaneously. I resist technical virtuosity, preferring the immediacy and vigor of quick mediums which are best suited for my impatience.
In 2006 I graduated with a BA in sculpture from the ‘Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera’, in Milan, where I moved the first steps towards my personal language. After the Accademia I became very passionate about graphic and illustration and entered several competitions, the best way to build up my first portfolio of illustrations. Between 2009 and 2010 I attended the “Scuola del Libro” in Urbino, where I discovered a very particular art scene and was introduced to the traditional technique of stop motion animation. In 2017 I gained an MA in Printmaking from Camberwell College of Arts (UAL) in London, where I currently live and work.
My work has been selected in several competitions, among others the Luzern Comic Festival (2008) and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair (2010). My work has been showcased in Italy and abroad.
